Google adds new features to its Google Meet app

Google announced on its account on the social networking site Twitter that its Google Meet application will receive a new set of video filters, effects and masks for augmented reality for personal calls for users on iOS as well as Android in a new batch of the application.

According to the media, the new video effects are the latest example of Meet’s shift from targeting enterprise and corporate users to targeting consumers in general after Google released the free Meet app for personal Google accounts last year. The filters are very similar to what’s already available for Google’s consumer-focused video chat service Duo.

The sources indicate that the new additions are available via the sparkle icon in the lower left part of the video broadcast during the call, which displays a set of different effects that include color filters and animated face effects in augmented reality,
