Google announces Pixel 6 and 6 Pro phones with a new processor

Google has already provided the first official details of the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro and we’re bringing them to you so you know them.

It will be officially unveiled in the fall, but Google has decided to announce the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in advance. Let’s call it a teaser or just an official preview, but we already know the first details of future Google phones that come with an important novelty: the Google Tensor, Google’s first proprietary processor for Android mobile phones.

At the beginning of the year, we learned of Google’s project to manufacture its own processor. To do this, they appointed former Intel processor designer Uri Frank as their new vice president of engineering. At first it was focused on its infrastructure in the cloud, but now we know that future Pixel phones will integrate their own processor designed by Google.

We’re not just looking at the processor, but the entire Soc, including the AI TPU, the new Titan M2 chip for security and the rest of the components like the 5G modem, CPU, and GPU. However, Google has not indicated with whom it has collaborated to manufacture all of these items.

And speaking of never-before-seen things, for the first time we’ll have a “Pro” model. Until today, Google has limited itself to offering XL versions of its smartphones, with a larger size, but practically the same specifications. Instead, it now appears that there will be noticeable differences between the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. These are some of the specifications announced by Google:

Pixel 6 specifications announced:

– 6.4 inch screen with OLED panel, Full HD + resolution, 90Hz refresh rate

– Google Tensor Titan M2 processor

Dual rear camera with wide angle (main) and ultra-wide-angle sensors.

– Android 12 operating system.

Pixel 6 Pro specifications announced:

– 6.7 inch screen with OLED (curved) panel, Quad HD + resolution, 120Hz refresh rate.

Triple camera with wide angle (main), ultra-wide angle and zoom sensors with 4x optical zoom.

– Android 12 operating system.

Google has not provided official details on how much RAM, storage and battery its devices will hold.
