Google tv will provide free TV channels to users
Google will offer free TV channels through the Google tv service
One of the trends of recent years in the live broadcasting and entertainment market has been the growth of free online TV channel services. Pluto TV is perhaps the world’s most famous, but it’s not the only one to use this business scheme.
In addition to Pluto TV, you can enjoy this type of content on services like Free TV or Samsung TV, although the latter is available exclusively to Samsung customers.
According to Protocol, the next company to join this business will be Google, and it will do so with Google TV, its latest bet to compete against Roku, Fire TV and Apple TV.
The source states that those from Google have been negotiating with different companies that have free TV channels on the Internet for several months, so this service could be announced during CES 2022 in Las Vegas.
Google TV and its free TV channels will also depend on the advertising scheme. However, the protocol does not say how many channels can be launched on this Google service.
Google’s problem is that it has strong competitors in the market, as it will not only have to take on Pluto TV as a platform for free channels, but its biggest US competitor Roku which has added more than 200 free TV channels to its platform.
Likewise, it wouldn’t be the first time that Google tried to get into the free TV business, because when it launched Android TV in 2014, there was already a way to add this type of content, however, the company never promoted or sought to promote this idea.
