Billionaire Virgin Galactic announces a contest to win two seats on a trip to space .. Explain how to participate
Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson returned from his first spaceflight on Sunday, landing on Earth after a quick flight to the edge of space via the VSS Unity space plane.
The spaceflight company plans to eventually sell hundreds of thousands of dollars in tickets, but is offering two seats on one of its upcoming flights to the lottery winners.
Charitable fundraising platform Omaze is offering two tickets for one of VSS Unity’s first commercial flights.
“We want to democratize access to space, making it something that’s not just available to ultra-high net worth individuals or astronauts, but to all of humanity,” said Omaze CEO and co-founder Matt Paulson. Today, “It’s really about making it available to everyone.”
Those interested can go online at omaze.com/space. Suggested minimum donation is $10, although no donation is required to enter. Each donation of $10 equals 100 entries, and there is a maximum donation amount of $300. After making a donation, you will enter directly into the competition.
“We all share this planet together,” Lyons said. “And we need to take care of it and we need to take care of each other.” “By giving people around the world access to this experience and perspective, we can begin to transform our relationship on a collective level with each other and with our planet.”
The competition is scheduled to end on September 1, and the winners will be revealed on September 29, after which the winners will undergo training, like any other Virgin Galactic passenger.
