This is OpenSky: Google’s new app that lets you fly a drone safely

One of the big problems when flying a drone is airspace restrictions. In general, you can’t fly in areas close to the airport, or in urban centers, but how do you really know if it’s legal to enjoy flying through the sky with your smart devices?
That’s where OpenSky comes in, an app launched by Wing, a Google subsidiary, that lets you know which areas you can legally fly your drone in. It is worth noting that this application first arrived in Australia, and now they have just announced its launch in the United States.
With a mechanism of use very similar to that of the EnAire app, with OpenSky you will be able to see the areas that are allowed to fly and the places where you will not be able to enjoy using your drone.
As you can see in the image below, the OpenSky interface is simple and intuitive, providing all kinds of valuable information so that you can fly your DJI Magic Mini, or any other drone, in the safest way possible.
Keep in mind that OpenSky collects a lot of data that will be useful to Wing as it goes beyond testing and expands to more regions in the US.
As we have indicated, OpenSky is currently available in Australia and the US, although it is very likely that it will end up in other regions.
