One of WhatsApp’s biggest issues is over, as the company announced that, starting from the next few weeks, all Android and iOS users will be able to switch operating systems without losing WhatsApp chats and multimedia elements.
Until today, switching between phones of the same operating system was not a problem because the backup allowed all the information to be transferred from one phone to another. However, since these backups are made to Google Drive for Android and iPhone to iCloud, it was impossible to transfer them between different operating systems.
WhatsApp explains that one of the reasons it took so much time to achieve this mission was that it needed to work with the world’s major manufacturers of operating systems and mobile devices.
One of the things that caught our attention is that this functionality was announced in Galaxy Unpacked, where the South Korean manufacturer revealed that its new flexible phones will be the first in the world to have the function of transferring all chats, voice notes, videos and photos in WhatsApp from one operating system to another.
This means that initially, users who have an iPhone and want to switch to Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will be able to take and transfer all their WhatsApp information without any problem.
In the coming weeks, this functionality will be enabled for other users who have an Android device as long as they are running Android 10 or later.
